70th Anniversary Quilt

Featured in this magnificent piece produced by our Tuesday quilters are former and current members who participated in the project by submitting their photos. (Click photo to enlarge. Better still, come see the real thing in the sanctuary.)

Laughter and energy filled the air as these people (and others who went missing at the photo time) worked joyfully in preparation for the D-Day.

Come Join Us !

Armed with doorknob hangers and a street map, many of our members visited houses within the 1-mile radius of our church.

Beth Paschall, our Diaconal Minister who coordinated this effort, gave the following instruction:

Dear Doorknob Hanger,

Yours is the important job of expressing neighborliness to the people living in the proximity of our church. We want to be a good neighbor.

Ring the doorbell. If someone comes to the door, introduce yourself. Say something like this:

"Palos United Methodist is celebrating its 70th anniversary next Sunday. We want you to at least stop over for coffee between 9:00 and 11:00 am, or to hear the Blue Grass Band at 1:45 pm.

"We want to be a good neighbor and be of any help possible. We are close enough that your kids could walk or bike over."

Signs of Time

The signs have been designed and planted so that both north and south bound traffic on Harlem Ave can read the same message. Can you tell what they say?

Sweet & Swift Hands

Our cookie mix crew worked hard to stuff 100 mason jars for a fund raiser in support of our mission trip to Chippewa Falls, WI, during June 14-20.

Church Marquee

Linda Pinto, Byril Sanders, and Eunyoung Chung planted geraniums on the basis of the church marquee.
